December 13, 2022
It’s the most wonderful time of the year! And I’m not quoting the song, lol. It really is the best time of the year, for many reasons. People are more pleasant and overly cheerful. The aroma of hot chocolate fills our homes. The best movies play on our TV screens. Depending on where you live, there’s a crisp chill in the air which calls for a warm and cozy fire in the fireplace.
This season is also a great time to sit and reflect on the year that you’ve had and look forward to the year ahead.
How has 2022 gone for you? Did you achieve the goals that you set at the beginning of the year? Take a moment to seriously think about that. If you didn’t achieve your goals, what could you have done differently?
As we look ahead to 2023, what are you most excited about? What sort of goals do you have for the upcoming year?
I’ve mentioned it before. We will attend the National Championships in May, then the Para World Athletics Championships in July. The year will end with the 2023 ParaPan American Games in November. My goal will be to land on the top of the podium at all of those events. That’s goal “numero uno.”
My second goal is to turn my attention to the acquisition of sponsors. The journey to gold is difficult, and since we’re not NBA players, NFL players, or MLB stars, getting adequate funding can be very tough. Amazing companies and individuals have fueled my journey in the previous games in which I’ve attended, and my goal is to acquire the partners needed to have a successful run to gold in Paris in 2024.
The third goal revolves around my new book entitled, No Need For Sight When You Have a Vision. It’s scheduled to drop in Q1 of 2023. I’m excited for the book launch as I really think it’s going to help a lot of people. I want it to serve as a resource that will help others look at life differently and gain the inspiration they need to positively transform their own lives.
Now it’s your turn. What are your goals for 2023?
Be sure to look back at this year and celebrate your achievements. I’m sure you’ve done some awesome things. Don’t leave out anything. We oftentimes think that some of our contributions are minuscule, but add those things to the list. Even small wins count as they mark your progress and movement forward.
Join me by establishing a solid set of three goals - only three goals to start. Once you determine your goals, commit yourself and take action.
Without a goal, you have nothing to shoot for. Remember when I spoke of that basketball hoop in my TedX talk? If so, you know that goal setting is very important. It gives us something to aim and shoot for!
Here’s to an amazing 2023 full of effort and achievement!
